FIBONACCI BOREALIS - Spring Equinox
Celebrating the arrival of Spring as a season of renewal and as a little nod to the "wonders of nature" I traced the fractal pattern of sunflower's face as a meditative practice on the equinox.
The Spring Equinox symbolizes balance, renewal, fertility, and the victory of light over darkness as day and night reach equal length. Marking the start of astronomical spring, it serves as a threshold for rebirth, sparking growth, planting new seeds (literally and metaphorically), and shaking off the dormancy of winter.
The Fibonacci sequence is an infinite series of numbers where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, starting from 0 and 1: 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144, 233, 377, 610, 987, 1597, 2584, 4181, 6765 etc.
The sequence can be found in the florets of a sunflower, the fruitlets of a pineapple or a pinecone. Ocean waves even follow this spiral as the crest starts to crash in on itself. From the microscopic level to macro or even galactic level- this sequence has led to centuries of debate on whether or not this is proof of a "divine signature" or if it is simply an emergent property of efficient natural growth and the physical laws of nature.
The dye effect is a reverse dye using colors inspired by the Aurora Borealis - a sort of angelic preamble of light in the dark winter nights. These shirts were dyed on the night of the Pink Moon in between me sowing seeds in my garden.
TL;DR - Put the phone down, turn off the TV and get some dirt between your toes/fingers. Or as the kids these days say "touch grass"
