Hello, my name is Will Story, and I'm a graphic designer currently living in Portland, Oregon.
I started UNDER THE WEATHER INC. in October of 2020
The name of this project has many meanings, but perhaps the most commonly known is the informal phrase used to describe feeling or being slightly unwell or in low spirits. There's lore out there that it was originally a nautical term from the days of old sailing ships. Any sailor who was feeling ill would often be sent below deck to protect them from the weather, by being below the deck, the ill sailor would quite literally be "under the weather. "
The name is primarily inspired by the infamously radical faction of the Students of a Democratic Society (SDS) known as "The Weathermen" which later evolved into "The Weather Underground Organization (WUO). The Weather Underground Organization took inspiration for their name from Bob Dylan's song "Subterranean Homesick Blues" in which Dylan sings-
"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows"
